Wild Trade Pick for Defenseman

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild Executive Vice President/General Manager Doug Risebrough announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired defenseman Chris Dyment (pronounced DIGH-mehnt) from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Dyment, 22 (10/24/79), tallied 25 points (7-18=25) in 38 games for Boston University this season. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound native of Reading, Massachusetts led the club’s defensemen in scoring, ranked first on the team with a plus-minus rating of plus-21, tied for the team lead in assists and was second in power-play goals with six. The co-captain was named to the Second Team JOFA/American Hockey Coaches Association All-American this season for the second time in his collegiate career as he also won the award following his sophomore campaign. Dyment was also voted to the All-New England team, was named Hockey East's best defensive defenseman and was a Second Team All-Hockey East selection.
He was originally drafted by Montreal in the 4th round (97th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
