Five Minnesota Wild Players Named to NHL All-Star Ballot
PRESS RELEASE

Thursday October 30, 2003

Last season Marian Gaborik became the first player in Minnesota Wild history to be selected for an All-Star game. Even though he’s not playing, he’s still one of five Wild players on this year’s All-Star ballot. Joining him on the ballot are Andrew Brunette, Manny Fernandez, Filip Kuba and Dwayne Roloson.

All-Star voting begins November 1 and lasts until December 31st. Voting will be conducted online at NHL.com, through broadband kiosks at 580 Best Buy locations, via paper ballots in all 30 NHL arenas, and, in a new twist, via Nextel phones in the U.S.

Votes cast in the arenas, on-line, and at Best Buy stores will qualify voters for a variety of prizes from Playstation, as well as Best Buy gift cards.

The NHL All-Star game will be played Sunday, February 8, 2004 right here in Minnesota. The game will be broadcast live on ABC in the US and on CBC in Canada starting at 2:00 CDT. The game will air in 217 countries and territories worldwide.

This will be the 18th season in which fans are able to select the starting lineups for the All-Star Game. Fans will select two wings, two defensemen, one center and one goalie from each conference. A space will be provided to write-in Matt Johnson’s name.
