Kopriva, 21 (12/5/83), was selected by Minnesota in the sixth round (187th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 31 games last season with HC Berounsti Medvedi of the Czech Republic League 1, the 6-foot-2, 176-pound netminder posted a record of 17-11-3 with a 1.92 goals against average (GAA), a .934 save percentage and four shutouts. He ranked second in the league in save percentage and third in GAA. The Kladno, Czech Republic-native also appeared in 10 games with HC Rabat Kladno of the Czech Republic League during the 2004-05 campaign and posted a mark of 3-7 with a 2.68 GAA, a .917 save percentage and one shutout.
During the 2003-04 season, Kopriva played in 13 games with Kladno and went 4-9 with a 4.02 GAA, a .905 save percentage and two shutouts. In 31 contests with HC Berounsti he posted a 24-6-1 record and a 1.89 GAA, .931 save percentage and three shutouts.
