Mitchell, 28 (4/23/77), posted 14 points (1-13=14) and 83 penalty minutes (PIM) in a career-high 70 games with Minnesota during the 2003-04 season. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound defenseman ranked tied for first on the Wild in plus/minus (+12), second in average ice time (22:35) and fourth in PIM. His 13 assists set a career-high and his 14 points matched his career-best. Mitchell recorded 14 points (2-12=14) and a career-high 84 PIM in 69 games during the 2002-03 campaign and ranked third on the team in plus/minus (+13). He appeared in all 18 playoff contests, scoring four points (1-3=4) and ranked tied for first on the team in plus/minus (+5) and second in average ice time (24:48).
Mitchell was acquired by Minnesota from the New Jersey Devils along with future considerations in exchange for Sean O’Donnell on March 4, 2001. He made his NHL debut with the Devils on March 25, 2000 at Toronto. The Port McNeill, British Columbia-native was originally selected by New Jersey in the eighth round (199th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
