Foster, 23 (11/24/81), ranked first among AHL defensemen in scoring with 15 points (4-11=15), including one power play goal in 19 games with the Aeros this season. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound blueliner was a +2 and also notched 32 penalty minutes (PIM). He spent the 2004-05 season with the AHL’s Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and posted 42 points (17-25=42) and 95 PIM in 78 games and ranked fourth on the team in scoring. The Carp, Ontario-native was the top Cincinnati defenseman in goals, assists and points, while skating to a +16 rating. Foster also added five points (2-3=5) to go along with 28 PIM in nine playoff games.
He was signed as a free agent by Minnesota on August 4, 2005. Foster was originally selected in the second round (40th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames and has tallied one assist in five NHL games. He will wear sweater #26 with Minnesota.
