Let's Play Hockey!

Wild Files: Jim Dowd
| Name: JIM DOWD | Height: 6'1" | Weight 190 |
| Birthday: 12/25/68 | Place: Brick, NJ |
| Position: CENTER | Shoots: Right | 2003-04 Salary: $775,000 |
| Acquired: 2000 NHL Expansion Draft (from Edmonton) |
As an original Wild player, Jim has been a solid member of the team since day one. He can usually be found centering the second or third line. His leadership is particularly valuable to the Wild as indicated when he wore the Captain’s "C" during October 2001, and was a permanent alternate captain for the ‘02-‘03 season.
While not counted on to put up big offensive numbers, the Wild would always like to see more scoring out of players like Jim who had 8 goals and 17 assists for 25 points last season. Jim finished the year at a -1 plus/minus rating indicating that he knows what to do in his own zone, particularly for a second or third line player.
Jim played for coach Lemaire during their time with the New Jersey Devils, and has a shiny Stanley Cup ring to show for it.
OUR TAKE
With the emergence of young centers like Rickard Wallin and Pierre-Marc Bouchard, veterans like Dowd and Darby Hendrickson must continue to put out maximum effort and results in order to maintain their roster spots.
